Posing people for pictures can present challenges. Here are a few tips from the poses I use the most in my work.
The hourglass silhouette is the foundation of the standing poses I like to begin my photo session when photographing women. This standing pose is very flattering and lends itself to a sequel of smooth transitioning of similar standing poses.
Creating triangle shapes with your arms, legs, hands, feet, and shoulders is an excellent way to create interest and space with the body. Triangles help make the body look longer, curvier, and not stiff. Let’s take a closer look at the steps to achieving this hourglass shape.
✦ Standing with a straight back.
✦ Shifting the weight to the back leg or the leg farthest from the camera.
✦ Bending front knee.
✦ Slightly lifting the front heel.
✦ If the model has a small waist (like seen above), place hands on hips.
