Old School Portfolio

I highly enjoy the creative process of a print portfolio.

A little about my portfolio throughout the years: in 1984, I purchased my first portfolio for my photography 101 class in college. It was a cheap 12 "x16" cardboard with three tie strings on each side.

That's all I could afford at that time. Although cheap and dull looking, I felt special, like a "real" artist. I had that portfolio for about ten years.

In the early '90s, my husband bought me a portfolio of better quality. I still have it, with pictures from that era. See the image above.

In mid-2000, I enrolled at the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, and for my Senior Portfolio class, I purchased a trendy opaque acrylic panels portfolio with no plastic sleeves. It was the cat's meow! So I thought.

Ultimately, I wouldn't say I liked it. It's an awkward size of a 13 "x19" Landscape. Once it's open when showing my work, it takes up the entire table. Since it doesn't have plastic sleeves, I had to add adhesive hinge strips to each picture. Whenever I wanted to update it, I had to unscrew the screwpost, and putting it back together wasn't easy.

Here is the oldest picture that I like from my first portfolio.
